The 2010 Convention was launched by Mr. David Aku a former president of the Volta Association at the 2009 year-end get-together. In his remarks, Mr. David Aku, noted that he is delighted at the opportunity given to Volta Association to host the convention for a record 4th time. He asked everyone to support the convention by volunteering, registering to attend the convention, soliciting sponsorships and making generous donations. Launching the convention under the theme, “Employing Education and Business Investments as instruments for developing Eweland”, Mr. David Aku declared that the Ewe community in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia areas is preparing to give a royal welcome to all our guests who will be attending this year’s convention.

The Volta Ensemble is the Youth Wing of Volta Club Inc. It is a multicultural and dynamic ensemble under the direction of Coordinator Adzo Eseli Nutakor. Volta Ensemble represents the rich Ghanaian culture through dance and music. See below for a list of dances performed.
Agbadza: is a social and recreational musical type among the Southern Ewe of Ghana, Togo and Benin. Derived from an older war dance called Atrikpui, Agbadza is one of the oldest and most popular musical types among the Ewe.
Atsiagbekor: is originally a war music and dance performed after battle. It is one of the oldest and most complex traditional musical types among the Ewe and Fon of Ghana, Togo, and Benin. It is now performed on most social occasions.
